Royal Brackla 2008 (The Whisky Jury)

The Whisky Jury launched this Royal Brackla 2008 for the tenth anniversary of Wine4You, one in every of his loyal retailers.

The label tells us this was a low fill cask – it had been leaking so these 58 bottles is all there was left inside. Often not one thing bottlers are pleased about, but when TWJ decides to bottle it, it must be removed from undrinkable.

Royal Brackla 15 yo 2008 (50,5%, The Whisky Jury for Wine4You 2024, refill hogshead #6784, 58 btl.)

Nostril: appears older than it truly is. There’s a pleasant fruity layer (yellow plums, candy lemon sweet and pears) together with a delicate chalky contact and a few beehive notes. Honeysuckle and a bit hay. Then it turns into even rounder and barely extra tropical, on bananas and papaya.

Mouth: nonetheless this spherical mixture of ripe fruits and candy oak, with white grapes, peaches, oranges and bananas. A dollop of honey. Fairly creamy at first, however mid-palate the tangy aspect returns, with some grapefruit and chalk. Inexperienced leaves, matcha and hints of liquorice wooden. Additionally lemon peels and gooseberries.

End: fairly lengthy, on chalky notes, white pepper and citrus zest, with this grassy aspect and lingering white fruits.

Fairly a vibrant whisky, mixing candy and luscious fruits with a tangy inexperienced aspect. The type of complexity I wasn’t anticipating from Brackla at this age. Good choice work. Unique to Wine4You.
