Jersey Mike’s Basic Pastrami sub sandwich options sliced brisket-cut pastrami, grilled onions, pickles, Swiss cheese, and spicy brown mustard on white sub bread.
I paid $10.95 for a regular-size Basic Pastrami sub.
Whether or not by chance or by design, the bread for my sub was toasted. I’ve had their cheesesteak on a number of events and it wasn’t toasted (I am not even certain Jersey Mike’s makes use of toasters so possibly it was grilled on the flattop?). Regardless of the motive, the toasting added a pleasant crunch to the proceedings.
The pastrami was moist, plentiful, and tender with a salty, peppery taste whereas the onions that it was grilled with added a light-weight watery crunch and slight sweetness. The Swiss cheese on high was completely melted and added a creamy richness to the sandwich.
The spicy brown mustard was not so spicy. I did not choose up any horseradish-y warmth from it however did get a tangy taste. Extra tangy notes got here from the pretty thick and crunchy pickles.
General, Jersey Mike’s Basic Pastrami sub was fairly strong with a pleasant mixture of textures to go along with the meaty, peppery pastrami. I did discover myself wishing for a stronger mustard and a bit extra sweetness although.
