Step 1
Place racks within the high and backside thirds of the oven and preheat to 350°F. In a medium bowl, whisk collectively the flour, cardamom, salt, and baking powder.
Step 2
In a big bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the butter and sugar on medium pace till gentle and fluffy, 2–3 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla and beat till clean. Add the flour combination and stir till no dry patches of flour stay.
Step 3
Working in batches, scrape the dough right into a cookie press fitted with a wreath, ridged line or “biscuit,” or flower disc and drop the formed cookies 1 inch aside on two giant unlined baking sheets. (If making the “lengthy biscuit” form, pipe 3-inch lengths of dough 1 inch aside.) Refrigerate the remaining dough as you pipe every batch.

Bake, rotating and swapping the baking sheets midway by means of cooking, till very gentle golden brown on the underside and dry to the contact throughout, 12–quarter-hour.
Step 5
Switch the baking sheets to wire racks. Cool for 1 minute, then switch the person cookies to the racks to chill utterly.
