Kaos is a triple malt whisky from Danish distillery Stauning (which we found by means of Berry Bros.). It takes its title from the slogan of Denmark’s first social-democratic Prime Minister. Stauning Eller Kaos – select Stauning or select chaos.
The whisky is a triple malt whisky. It mixes their signature floor-malted rye with traditional malt and heather and peat smoked malt. That is then matured in virgin American oak barrels and first-fill fortified wine / spirits casks.

Nostril: rye bread stands out. Baking spice with barely burnt cereals and pine needles. Additionally a touch of plywood and sourdough. Then attention-grabbing nori leaves, aromatic smoke within the background, and a whiff of varnished wooden. Hints of berries after some time, however fruits will not be what this whisky is about.
Mouth: candy and bitter apple, adopted by a creamy vanilla not, extra pine needles once more, and hints of contemporary wooden shavings. Nonetheless this barely dusty / plankish edge, highlighted by the rye spice. Dashes of honey with loads of breakfast cereals beneath. Very malt in direction of the top.
End: not too lengthy, primarily hovering round caramel, refined peat and loads of baking spice once more.
This goes in numerous instructions, for my part. There’s a transparent Nordic footprint with the rye and the pine needles, but in addition a honey sweetness that doesn’t mix in solely. Too many concepts for one expression, if what I imply? Total the spicy, woody notes are fairly loud too. Obtainable from The Whisky Change as an example.
